Privacy Policy

Pákó Health is a Nigerian company. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers pako.health, The Journal, the Pause app and our programmes.

Pause keeps nothing

Pause runs in your browser and saves what you log on your own device. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. We cannot see your entries, we could not hand them over if we were asked, and there is nothing for us to sell.

A record of your cravings is close to the most private thing a person can keep, and it is treated that way. If an Android version later adds an optional account, this policy will say so before it does.

What we collect

If you join our email list: your email address, and which page you signed up from. We send a confirmation email and you are only added once you click the link in it, so nobody can put your address on our list but you.

If you buy a programme: your name, email, and what you bought. Stripe handles the payment and we never receive your card number.

If you apply for a job or offer to review for us: what you type into the form. For reviewers that includes your professional registration number, which we use once to confirm you are registered and never publish.

If you email us: whatever is in the email.

When anyone visits: anonymised usage data through Google Analytics — pages viewed, roughly where in the world, what kind of device. Not names, not individuals.

What we do with it

We send you what you asked for, deliver what you bought, answer your messages, assess your application, and look at which articles people read so we know what to write next. We do not sell your data. We do not build advertising profiles.

Who else touches it

We use other companies to run the business, and they only get what they need to do their part: Stripe for payments, Resend to deliver our email, Google Analytics for anonymised usage, and Netlify, Railway and Supabase to host the site and its content. Some of them store data outside Nigeria.

How long we keep it

Your email address: until you unsubscribe, and we keep a record that you unsubscribed so we do not add you again by accident. Purchase records: as long as the law requires. Job and reviewer applications: deleted within six months if we do not take it further. Anything else: only as long as we have a reason for it.

Your rights

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and it works in one click. You do not have to write to us or explain yourself.

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and withdraw consent to emails at any time. Write to hello@pako.health and we will answer within 30 days. Every marketing email also has an unsubscribe link.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Cookies

Some cookies are needed for the site to work. Others come from Google Analytics. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

Keeping it safe

Everything travels over an encrypted connection. Access to what we store is limited to the people who need it. We do not store card details at all.

Children

Our site and programmes are for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top says when it last changed.
